While it’s tempting to engage in debates over details (e.g. "thousands of rockets", which turn out to be a total of about 15 in 6 months, none fired by Hamas), the truth is that all the statements in the trailer to your film are meant as distractions, hence qualify as propaganda.
The real issue is, and always has been, the illegal occupation of Palestine by Israel, the brutal repression of the Palestinian people, and the incessant grabbing of other people’s land.
I, and many of my fellow Jews, want to be proud of Israel. But we find that extremely difficult given the squalid history of the Israeli state, which in no way represents any more the aspirations of the Jewish people of the world.
Open your eyes and don’t lie to yourselves any more.
So wait. "Us and Them" is not played in this trailer?
The Jewish people are always being lied about and people use these lies as a justification of mass violence and murder. From Medieval blood libels to more recent Iranian nonsense that Tom and Jerry is a Jewish conspiracy to make over the Jewish image in the West, Jews are constantly being chased around by a cloud of constant lies.
In a way, this constitutes a sort of grand scale Lashon HaRa. Israel and the Jewish people as a whole are sort of like That Girl that Everybody Talks About and Hates. They call her a slut. The talk about what she wears, how she does her hair, who she hangs out with, who she dates and what she does with these dates. Other girls try to beat her up for no reason. Maybe they heard a rumor that she was talking about her or likes her boyfriend or something. This girl suffers because of other people’s delusions.
What can this girl do to get the lies to stop? In a high school situation the girl could change schools or just bide her time till graduation. Or, I suppose she could kick ass and get people’s respect, but this has been tried and doesn’t seem to have worked much.
*Sigh.* (Shelach li) sheket…ad yom muti.
To be specific, it’s Holiday in Cambodia by The Dead Kennedys
I think that’s the Dead Kennedys.
Did the AJC get Pink Floyd’s permission to use their music in this movie?
