If Abe Foxman and the ADL don't think the Armenians suffered genocide, perhaps the Jews didn't either?  Can't have it both ways, uncle Abe….sorry. I don't care how much money the Turkish govt sends your way, you've still become their whore, no matter how you try to hide it.  Oh, and by the way, forget that self-righteous moralism of yours….it's as empty as a tin cup and just as pathetic.

Abe Foxman is a true scumbag, full of double standards, lies and two faced statements. If any of his crap was thrown at the Holocaust in similar fashion to what he's said and done regarding the Armenian genocide, the outrage in the Jewish community would be close to insanity. But, he finds it ok to sit back and denigrate anything Armenian, but also anything Arab or Palestinian, and that includes people like a Nobel Peace prize winner, Jimmy Carter, even as Israel commits ethnic cleansing that is nothing less than what the Nazis did to the Warsaw Ghetto. Foxman's ability to stand w/ vehement genocide denialists is not a protector for either Israel or Jews, in fact, it is just the opposite. It also hints at the unsavory relationship between the perpetrators and those who deny. It is shameless and despicable.

Although the ADL’s mission is to supposed to be to speak up for
Jews under Foxman’s tenure it does not even do that.He took
money ($250,000) from two bit con man Marc rich rather than
help Jonathan Pollard. Foxman on tv condemned the JDO for
getting KKK members fired from jobs. Foxman also defended
neo-nazi Pig Matt Hale’s “right to be an attorney” after this
neo-nazi misfit was turned down by the Illinois Sate Bar.
Foxman was invisible durong the vicious Jew-Hating riot
pogrom in Crown Heights Brooklyn led by vicious Jew-Hater Al
Sharpton and didn’t lift a finger for those Jews who were getting
beaten, stabbed, burned out and killed. So do not be shocked that
Foxman this fake, pony and fraud (for honor and donations)
denied the real Genocide that happened to the Armenians.

Foxman recently on “60 Minutes” show even went so far as to blast Holocaust
survivors for demanding the money bvack that was stolen from them
by various Swiss and German banks before the Holocaust.Foxman said it made
the Holocaust survivors “look greedy”. At the time the Jewish Defense Organization blasted Foxman, as “Dishonest Abe” and you can see even more on the JDO website. http://WWW.JEWISHDEFENSE.ORG

We consider Foxman a sell out to the Jews fo years and have held
several demonstrations against him.The truth is that Foxman is
literally “off his rocker” and should have been fired years ago.

Just saw this on the JDO website re Foxman

    Abe Foxman’s version of the
    BEATLES SONG, “Yesterday”

    Yesterday,
All my scandals seemed so far away
Now, I realize that they are here to stay
    Oh how I long
    For yesterday.

    Yesterday,
With arrogance I’d get my way
Now I hope that I can hide away
    In Florida Like Yesterday

    Suddenly,
I’m just half the man I used to be
The Marc Rich scandal still hangs over me
    The expose’
    Came suddenly

    Why
    The donors
    Had to go
    I should know
    They wouldn’t stay
    I did
    All those wrongs
    Now I, long
    For yesterday…

    Yestersay,
The Pollard scandal seemed so far away
Now I realize it’s here to stay
    I wish he’d die
    Just go away

    Yesterday,
    Holocaust survivors I betrayed
Now my image has begun to fade
    O I remember
    Yesterday

    Suddenly
I’m just half the man I used to be
My temper tantrums are exhausting me
    Don’t question my
    Stability

    Yesterday,
Funds were such an easy thing to raise
And the Board against itself I’d play
    But now our bills
    Are hard to pay

    Yesterday,
    Armenian Genocide I brushed away
Now I’m frightened by the news it made
    They called me smug
    Just yesterday

    Yesterday,
Firing staffers was a game I’d play
Now my own job might end that way
    O how I long
    For Yesterday

There is a website of a militant Jewish (www.jewishdefense.org)
group the Jewish Defense Organization and they
have alot of dirt on Foxman. They list how he took
250,000 dollars from Marc Rich to get him a pardon for his
fraud and rip off charges. But Foxman would not not lift a finger for
Jonathan Pollard. They mention how Foxman did not lift a finger
during the Crown Heights Pogrom riot against Jews. They also
mention how when Islamic terrorist shot Jews in Seattle last
summer Foxman did nothing.”Dishonest Abe” as JDO calls him
said that PLO head Arafat earned the Nobel Peace Prize that he got !After reading this JDO website’s section it’s obvious that Foxman will say whatever
gets him the biggest donations, or awards ! He is for sale ! He does not care
2 bits about his own Jewish community !

It is completely uncalled for to call Theodor Herzl delusional. You know… he actually got up and did something for Jews, which is more than i can say for ummm most people (jews and goyim alike).

  • By Anonymous 8/31/07 at 10:48 p.m. UTC

Although i choose not to leave my name, I am a different person from the “anonymous” above. But I definetly agree with him/her! Foxman is bad, but the truth in that does not deny the truth in this cartoon perpetuating anti-semetic setreotypes. This cartoon depicts Foxman looking like the jews in the old nazi propaganda, in addition to all the good points mentioned above. I support criticism of moraly or ethically wrong actions taken by other Jews (especially those who are supposed to be our representatives), but that does not mean you should do so in this way. The cartoon actually implies that he denies Arminian genocide because all the Jews with money (these “donors”) want him to! It was these same Jews protests (including myself) that made him chnage his stance.

  • By Phantom 8/31/07 at 2:34 p.m. UTC

I didn’t think of those aspects of the cartoon as being characteristic of Jews either until Anonymous pointed out that they were anti-semitic elements of the cartoon. In other words, it didn’t strike me that sharp teeth or gluttony were supposed to be directed at Foxman’s Jewishness. I think by pointing these things out over and over again, you drill it into people’s heads that Jews are supposed to have sharp teeth and be gluttonous. Not until Anonymous’ post did I ever imagine that Jews are supposed to be gluttonous, and I grew up with many Jews.

I think anti-semitism is definitely a real and existing monster, but when it is treated with paranoia, I think it has the unintended effect of creating more anti-semites. At the least, it reminds people of the harmful Jewish stereotypes that many of us have either never known or have forgotten.

  • By Anonymous 8/31/07 at 1:44 p.m. UTC

    To Mr. Sensitive Anonymous:

Sorry guys. Most of the features representing the anti-semitic nature of the cartoon went over my head – did not even notice them. Since you caught them – you may be overly sensitive to these stereotypes.

I did notice the play on money as the most obvious stereotype (Jews and money) – but that could be a stereotype of anybody from any ethnicity from today where selling yourself for a dollar is the unmoral norm.

As for the beads of sweat, glaring teeth, glutonous food consumption – how are those anti-semitic? I think it more representative of the morals and dilemma of the man behind the cartoon than his ethnicity.

Now if they put a “very big nose” on him, or a “religious” cap on him, or he was eating “Matza Ball” soup – well that certainly would be a flagrant in your face mockery.

However – the emphasis was on money – for the $500,000,000 raised to the $125 steak to the helping of the fugitive gangster for money to the debt he owed the Sultans of Turkey. The whole cartoon was about his morals revolving around money – and – even in the end after taking the money he regneged on the deal.

My advice to you Mr. 10:29am Anonymous – get off this self guilt of being Semitic and looking around every corner for anti-semitic people and statements. You are on your way to being just like those overly sensitive Muslims who lost control of themselves when the Europeans spoofed Mohammed in cartoons.

    Yours truly,

An Armenian probably with a bigger nose than yours and most certainly curlier hair than yours.

p.s. Woody Allen used to make fun of Armenians in his movies – no one ever accused him of Anti-Armenianism. In fact I particularly enjoyed those Armenian jokes.

  • By Anonymous 8/31/07 at 10:29 a.m. UTC

Abe Foxman is a man with very poor judgment. And criticism of his misguided approach to dealing with the Armenia question is well founded. But that does not justify this horribly anti-semitic cartoon. What purpose does it serve to portray Foxman as a money-grubbing Jew, to dismiss Hertzl as a delusional prophet, and to draw images of Foxman that would make the Nazis proud (beads of sweat, glaring teeth, glutonous food consumption)? Unfortunately, this cartoon shows that anti-semitism is alive and well, and that the work of the ADL is necessary and noble work. The fact that Foxman repeatedly and consistently exercises bad judgment in pursuing the mission of the ADL does not mean that he is a selfish money-grubbing Jew. Conflation of Foxman’s failures with the most depraved anti-semitic stereotypes does nobody any good.

I know first hand how much Turkish Jews are in denial and seem to suffer a case of mass Stockholm Syndrome.

Why don’t they just get out of there ? We have Israel now.

  • By Anonymous 8/29/07 at 1:39 p.m. UTC

MY apologies for getting the two names mixed up. It was Lenningrad (today’s St. Petersberg) – not Stalingrad that was under seige by the Germans during WWII. The secret pact between the Turks and the Germans was that Turkey would jump into the war on the Axis side as soon as Lenningrad fell to the Germans. Fortunately for the Armenians the Russians and the rest of the Soviets were able to defend the city and repulse the attack.

Also and more importantly was how the Turks were treating their Jewish population during the war. Why are we not commenting on this aspect? Is there a cover up here or just plain ignorance?

Turkish Jews like Turkish Armenians live in fear for their life every day of their lives. Being a Jew or Armenian in Turkey is still like being a Dhimmi – a thrid class citizens – below that of non-Turkish Moslems (i.e. Kurd’s, Circassian’s, Lazi’s, Hamshem Armenians, etc…).

Why do the Turks keeps reminding us of how they accepted Jews with open arms several hundred years ago? The point of when people are accepted into a country should be moot. The United States does not contantly remind ethnic and religious minorities of when they were accepted into this country. One can only intrepret this as a threat to the Jews – that the Turks accepted you and the Turks can unaccept you at any time.

  • By Anonymous 8/28/07 at 9:35 p.m. UTC

It is a well known fact that during WWII Turkey was neutral However it is a little known fact that Turkey and Germany had signed an agreement that as soon as Stalingrad (St. Petersburg) fell to the Germans, Turkey was to invade the Soviet Union via Armenia. 100,000+ Turkish troops were massed on the Turkish-Armenian border of the Soviet Union – ready to invade as soon as the Russians lost their city (opportunists jumping on the winning side of the war). Sounds familiar doesn’t it – 1917 revisited again when the Russian’s pulled out of the Anatolia (western Armenia) and the Caucasia (eastern Armenia) because of the Bolshevik revolution during WWI – letting the Turkish army full sway over Armenia proper.

So Turkey was ready to formally declare itself sided with the Axis (HITLER & Company) powers. Too bad for Turkey that Russia never lost Stalingrad – which was one of the greatest defenses of a city in modern history.

Of coarse, highly probable speculation here, if the city had fallen the next round of the genocide of the Armenians would have occurred and also Turkish and Caucasian Jews would have been shiped out to the same place they would have shipped the Armenians – the grave. Why don’t you ask Jews from Turkey what happened to their families during WWII – how about a Japanese American style of internment!

Of coarse the Jewish community of Turkey is very scared for thier lives and livleyhod. Just look what happened to Hrant Dink – executed by the neo-Nazi fascists of the Turkish “deep state”. Always will be a Dhimmis in the eyes of a Turk – always!

that guy is an embarassment to the jewish community- if
they excommunicated spinoza- why can’t they do the same
    to this guy?

  • By Anonymous 8/28/07 at 3:54 p.m. UTC

What is now best for the ADL and Jewish Americans – is to request Abe Foxman to resign from being the head honcho of the ADL. He has done a great job at the helm of this outstanding organization. It is now time for Abe to retire and let the next generation take the helm of the ADL.

Along with a change of guards there needs to come the formal recognition by the American Jewish communities, their lobbies, and the Israel government, of the genocide of the Armenians, Assyrians, and Greeks at the hands of the Ottoman Turks. Only with a true acknowledgement can credibility and the moral high ground be re-established.

I’m reading a book “Lawrence and Aaronsohn: T. E. Lawrence, Aaron Aaronsohn, and the Seeds of the Arab-Israeli Conflict.” by Ronald Florence.
    http://www.amazon.com/Lawrence-Aaronsohn-Aaron-Arab-Israeli-Conflict/dp/0670063517
The Zionist settlers in 1915 were very much aware of what was happening to Armenians and were terrified that it would soon happen to them. With good reason. The Turkish commander in Palestine, Djemal Pasha, had launched an ill-considered and disasterous attack on the British in Egypt, like Enver in the Caucuses. And like Enver, he picked a scapegoat for his fiasco — the Jews of Palestine. There’s an account by Aaronsohn’s brother available online at:

The more he talks about this and tries to explain (redefine) the ADL's mission, the worse it gets.   He should just spit it out and say that the ADL cares about Jews and only Jews, and they are willing to trample on any other group if they think that in so doing they are protecting Jews.  Actually, that's not quite accurate, what he really cares about are his donors, who happen to be Jews with an agenda that involves protecting Jews.

If Turkey is such a wonderful ally to Israel, why does the ADL think that Turkey's Jews are in need of protection?  Could it possibly be that they fear that a country that committed genocide against their Armenians could also do the same to their Jews?  Hmmm . . .

  • By Anonymous 8/28/07 at 9:42 a.m. UTC

Foxman’s ongoing lobbying on behalf of Turkey to derail the Genocide Resolution (HR 106) is ‘tantamount’ to Holocaust denial. Nobody’s buying his explanation of moral hierarchies for ADL’s mission. His insistence on justifying his actions is spreading more embarrassment.

    See his latest justification here:

    http://www.thejewishadvocate.com/this_weeks_issue/news/?content_id=3556

While Foxman still doesn’t get it, the one who REALLY TRULY doesn’t get though is the government of Turkey!

  • By lindaras 8/28/07 at 9:25 a.m. UTC

There's a funny recap of this whole sorry mess at http://www.counterpunch.org in which the author, John Walsh, notes that "Foxman now has accomplished what has eluded diplomats for nearly a century, bringing Armenians and Turks together in this case in opposition to national ADL. And he has even brought down a Turkish charge against his own proper respect for the Holocaust!"

Anti-Defamation League rehires New England director

    By Keith O’Brien, Globe Staff

The national Anti-Defamation League rehired its New England regional director today, barely a week after firing him for publicly breaking with the national leadership and acknowledging the Armenian genocide that began in 1915.

The move to rehire Andrew H. Tarsy as regional director marked the second time in a week that the human rights organization has reversed course under pressure from the Jewish and Armenian-American communities. But Abraham H. Foxman, the ADL’s national director, said he did not rehire Tarsy simply to appease critics….
