All that the Sri Lanka conflict has shown, is that a government that cares for the safety of its citizens can effectively stop terrorists who attack civilian targets.

It is still interesting to see how other cultures behave and protest and such. SOmetimes you can be truly surprised by things like this.

I’ll be honest, I don’t understand the point of this piece. The author contrasts the Palestinian liberation movement with the Tamil one, and finds the far less violent Palestinian movement to be both more focused on media-friendly ways of gaining attention, and also more successful, and then claims that this is a fault with the Palestinian movement? I mean, should Hamas become more like the Tamil Tigers? Would that be a good thing? Should Palestinians choose a less effective method of protest?

That some conflicts rate more concern than others is certainly a bad thing (or, at least it can be)…but singling out the "anti-capitalists" and "anti-Israel protesters" is, well, pretty selective too; I mean, does anyone really think the ostensibly pro-capitalist teabag movement is devoid of "free-floating narcissistic victimology"?

Anyway, an interesting point about how we prioritize international conflicts is obscured by the author’s contempt for anyone and anything associated with the pro-Palestinian cause.
