Petros Pappalas
By Petros Pappalas / October 29, 2008I strive to paint an experience onto the canvas honestly and meaningfully as possible. I explore various styles and themes while working because it reflects how I live my day to day. With all my highs and all my lows, one reoccurring theme is always present; people. My work and how I paint is about the struggle of this life. Ultimately, we’re all in this together, and the sooner we recognize the mess that links us, the better.
I was born Dec. 15, 1984 in Perth Amboy, NJ. At age 1 we moved to
Reading, PA due to a cancerous rain cloud that developed over our
previous town. I would always find myself drawing, but I got bad grades
in art class for never following directions and in high school my art
teacher got so angry with my work she failed me. I figured I was not
meant for the art world and decided to study for medical school. My
third year in college I took an oil painting class for the first time
and realized what I would be doing for the rest of my life. I currently
plan to attend graduate school in New York to receive my MFA in
painting.
