Obama Endorsed by Black Dynamite

Obama's Democratic nomination has made US history. Can you dig it!?

You know that Obama just clinched the Democratic nomination, but did you know who set him on the road to glory? Sure, his mother had something to do with it—but so did 1970s African-American action legend Black Dynamite. See for yourself:

This is hilarious! Great find!

More blaxploitation themes

More blaxploitation themes involving Obama, please! The white racial resentment angle is getting so tired.

And it's so yesterday.

Like, literally.

White racial resentment

Might be projecting here, just a bit. ... But what "white racial resentment" is this? It's comic blaxploitation, of course, but I don't see any resentment.

RW

White racial resentment angle?

You're barking up the wrong tree, fella. Jewcy white people love Barack Obama's plastic "post-racial" steez. It's a lazy shorthand of way for white people who think they're enlightened to tell black people that they may not ever want to live in black neighborhoods ("I hear the crime there is terrible!"), or send our children to public schools with black kids ("I'm worried about test scores!"), but we can't possibly be racist because we voted for Barack Obama ("yes we can!"). It's discount racial guilt cleansing for the Stuff White People Like crowd. It's a pretty harmless political symbiosis - racial guilt exchanged for votes, and shit, I don't see how that's any more or less shameless than what anyone else was offering, but to classify it as white resentment is laughable.

JewcyCraig, I was talking

JewcyCraig, I was talking about nothing related to this post. I was referring to the way more than a few Clinton and Republican voters, during the course of the campaign, made a caricature out of Obama that fell back on stereotypes of "The Affirmative Action Candidate" or "The Magical Negro". I found those either nonsensical (in the case of the latter) or retarded (the former. I tend not to use the term "offensive" since not much offends me other than the way some people can occasionally offend my sense of faith in the entire concept of human intelligence). This post, on the other hand, and the genre it represents (either in itself or vis a vis Obama) is entirely fun and harmless.

The post itself was great. I'll read RW's stuff before seeing if there's anything more to respond to. But I needed to respond to yours because it took precisely the wrong impression from what I was saying.

Hope that clarifies things. Keep up the good work, Jewcy!

Oh. I see, RW. Your shtick

Oh. I see, RW. Your shtick is more along the lines of the "magical negro" trope (see wiki; Safari's too slow at allowing the pop-up to insert a hyperlink) that's been incessantly batted around, although with the idea of redemption being of a much more transcendent and reflexive nature. Yeah, we've heard it before. I think it's a mental shorthand for forgetting that he addresses things no other politician has had the brains/balls/timing/luck (see Bush administration's approval ratings) to address. Other than remembering not to confuse it with the resentment that many whites who voted AGAINST him veritably expressed, which is the OPPOSITE of what you describe and a much more readily and easily confirmed phenomenon, you're free to keep running with your trope, and the shorthand for thinking/excuse for not engaging in otherwise serious conversations about his candidacy which it represents.

Yawn.

Oh, and if it wasn't

Oh, and if it wasn't clear...

I've found your website's other posts on Obama have been very good. Congrats on having someone as smart and fresh (in his political outlook, but not only in that) as Dan Koffler to keep opening the minds of your readership with insight that is all too rare in so many other areas of the blogosphere. Insight exists in the blogosphere, but Dan's brand of expressing it is at least as fun and more intellectually engaging.
