Newsweek interviews a former Republican campaign operative who went to jail for stifling democracy. He dishes on the dirty tricks of campaigns, such as telephoning voters and pretending to represent liberal causes while using "the voice of a quote-unquote 'scary black man.'"

Says the former operative: "When I was working, the main thing was to win, not to be moral."

Trying to get elected: exactly like trying to pick up a one night stand!

On my mother's side, I'm descended from Lev Yiskhak of Berdicheve
(spelling could be wrong… probably is) and Rabbi Karo of Safat.
But being tall, with wide shoulders and blue-eyed, light hair and skin, and coming from a family that came to the
US in the 19th Century, I've spent a lot of time being told I wasn't
Jewish… usually by Reform or secular Jews, by the way.

So to claim 'real Jews don't tell other people they aren't real
Jews' is just silly. Jews are very happy to tell anyone they don't
think is just like them that they aren't Jews, even people who have far superior Jewish pedigrees than theirs.

There is, in fact, an old Joke about this.

    Shortly after
WWII, there was a nice American Jewish young man who was serving in the
US Army occupation of Japan. This young man had dark curly hair,
a large nose with a slight hook, swarthy tan skin, big, dark brown eyes, and was slight of
build. He happened to have off one Friday evening, with a pass to
go off the base, so he decided to attend services. He wondered
through the nearby streets, trying to communicate with people that he
was Jew looking for a Synagogue. Finally, a Japanese man directed
    him in broken English.

The young man found the building which was
marked with a menorah and a large Star of David. He entered and put
on a prayer shawl, and joined in the Hebrew and Aramaic Prayers,
noticing that the congregation pretty much looked East Asian, not white
or Arabian or even African. After the services, a kiddish was
served, and the young man took a glass of wine and a pastry, said the blessings, and tasted both.
There was a commotion in the congregation, and then one of the east Asian men
walked over to him and asked, "Are you Jewish?"

    "Yes," the young man responded.

    His
questioner said something to the rest of the crowd in Japanese.
Then looked at the young man, shaking their heads in wonder. Finally the spokesman said in English,
"That's funny, you don't look Jewish!"

As a follow up to my last post, I just saw an article on Jewish Week that deals with a related issue: can you be a Jewish convert if you think the Rebbe is the Messiah? http://www.thejewishweek.com/viewArticle/c39_a1694/News/International.html

    RL,

Yahser Koach, to a point. There are Jews who are justified in telling other individuals that they are not Jewish. Perhaps a Beit Din, the Chief Rabbis of various countries, etc. Obvioulsy our annons do not fit that category. Telling someone they are not a "real Jew" annonymously online is a worthless statement.  Just ignore it.

and delight in telling people that they are not "really Jews."

I got news for them: rela Jews don't other Jews that they are not real Jeews. They also don't do it anonymously. NO ONE appointed you chief Jewish  inquisitor.

"such as telephoning voters and pretending to represent liberal causes while using "the voice of a quote-unquote 'scary black man.'""

So that's how Hilary did it. That explains the sharp difference between the Sunday polls and Tuesday election results. I wondered what had happened Monday to change everyhing.

But don't feel bad because "Jewcy" doesn't any Jews on their staff either.

Do you go around pretending to be black?

I love it when the ladies call me Big Papa. Does that count?

How many blacks are on the Jewcy staff?
