Lesbians Need Treatment

On March 28, "Home & Exile," a conference for Israel's gay Arab community is scheduled to take place. According to The Advocate, the conference is being sponsored by Aswat, an Arab lesbian group based in Haifa. A hundred or so people are expected to attend the event and given its controversial taboo nature, the conference is garnering its share of negative attention.
Mohammed Zbidat, spokeman for the Islamic Movement, a conservative group, let his feelings on homosexuality (which is forbidden in Islam) be known.
"Lesbians … need treatment, they don't need to spread their strange ideas in the Arab community."
