Jim Kaufmann

No major statements here. I virtually always use pigma micron or Staedtler fineliner pens on Stonehenge paper. Sometimes I add collage material and gouache to the drawings, sometimes not. I typically start with some kind of “vessel”—a head, a whale, a dog—and then I start to draw. Then things happen. I never know when I start drawing what I’m drawing will look like until it’s all over. Then I’m on to the next drawing.

Great stuff! I hope everyone is clicking on each piece, which makes the larger version visible. The detailed drawings in the pieces are tantalizing. Of these three, I like Mail Art, with the whale (?) creature the best. Fine use of different forms and, for me, an interesting evocation of Jonah. Love the spurs! Thanks, Jim

    Nice work Jim,

I really like the piece “Originally From Dallas, Now a Citizen of the World”.

    Best,

    Josh
