The N.Y. Times reports this nice bit of news, that Obama has opened up a sizable lead over McCain in the latest CBS poll. Obama’s favorables are up to the highest they’ve ever been, McCain’s are down to the lowest they’ve ever been.

I’m not foolish enough to believe that this is the end of the campaign or even the beginning of the end. There is a long way to go till November 4th and five weeks is a lifetime in presidential politics. After all, the bailout fiasco which apparently did so much damage to McCain’s image, was a very unusual development. One doesn’t know how the fallout will play out from this. Does the bailout have “legs” as a political issue (as I suspect it does)? Or will it recede into the political woodwork as Katrina did for Bush, in a few days or weeks? As long as it continues to occupy the public’s attention, McCain remains wounded.
And this is not a helpless candidate by any means. He can still land serious blows on Obama and potentially derail his campaign in any number of ways.
Bush's favorability rating is down to 22%! The lowest since Harry Truman in the Korean War. Who'd a thunk it only five years ago when he rode high in the saddle into the Iraq War?
One of the most delicious pieces of news from this story concerns Sarah Palin’s receding prospects:
The Pew poll found that 51 percent of respondents said she was not qualified to be president, compared with 37 percent who said she was. That is a reversal from early last month, when 52 percent of respondents said Ms. Palin was qualified to be president.

lost 15 percentage points in less than a month. That’s a candidate in
free fall, perhaps without a parachute given her recent performance in
Katie Couric’s CBS interview. When I first started writing about her
after McCain chose her I wondered why the American public wasn’t seeing
what I was seeing. My hope and conviction was that this would be a
process that wouldn’t happen instantaneously. But that a campaign of a
thousand paper cuts, perhaps inflicted by liberal bloggers and her own
hubris, would eventually bring her to her knees, which is more or less
what has happened. Now, let’s see if this impression is reinforced in
tomorrow’s V.P. debate.

McCain/Palin poll ratings tanking like The New York Times market share.
Not to worry, the Times will have the final laugh since they can try to give the paper away with adult chat lines advertised on the back pages a la The Village Voice since by now they have the same readership.
As for the election, this time last year the McCain campaign was all but abandoned and that was before the advent of "Sarah-cuda" who has the ability to make "progressives" froth more than an esspresso machine on the fritz at Starbucks so you are correct not to count them out just yet.
Remember, last time the politically astute of the world would have had John Kerry on his second term by now with the emergency airlift and fall of Baghdad and not the success of the surge being the prime election issues.
In the 2012 debates I hope we avoid ever having President Obama being challenged about kicking the Israeli Government in exile out of their compound near Camp David (final irony) and sending Jimmy Carter to inspect the radioactive ashes while starting the next "peace process".

If anyone believes any poll taken by CBS, Communist Broadcasting Service then I have some ocean front property in Arizona I would like to sell you! The Obamabots from the Protocols of the Daily Kos have been spamming every online and internet poll they can hit, even on the Right Wing Blogs like LGF. The numbers are skewed and I think it will provide much entertainment on Nov ember 5th when all of you zombies who have been slurping koolaid from the Fountain of O are going to lose your freaking minds.....The vestiges of Liberal America are going to resemble Jonestown.

Spewing the ridiculous meme of Obama's popularity being nothing but a fad perpetuated by mindless libruls as a way to pretend that McCain's ratings aren't really in the toilet is quite rich. It's also really bad subterfuge. What's next? I know you are but what am I?

Interesting quote from Kissinger. This was from the book "The Final Days" by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein and Kissinger was refering directly to Chief of Staff Alexander Haig who he despised (but I'm sure you knew all that already).
No wonder Kissinger was considered a darling of the liberal media back then. He is even famously evoked, (incorrectly) by Obama himself at the recent debate. McCain had to remind Obama that he knew Kissinger ever since he returned from Vietnam in the early 1970's (soon after Obama returned from Jakarta).
Of course Kissinger could have recalled when he was a dumb, stupid animal himself serving in occupied Germany in 1945.
If I am a dumb stupid animal as you suggest, that's fine. It's my choice.
However, are the several little children singing religious hymns to Barak Obama on that uber creepy YouTube video making the rounds also dumb, stupid animals or footsoldiers for the left?
Or are just their crunchy, hipster parents footsoldiers for having the kids look like a cross between chilled out Hitler Youth or Jonestown drones being led to the Kool-Aid vat?
Does this bother you...at all?

But if you want to be the sort of dumb dildo who unwittingly snatches up the insults directed at others and posts them on your back like a "kick me" sign then be my guest. If not, then I'll leave the rest of your extended, prefabricated fantasy rant unread until you figure out how you want to manage that crisis of confidence first.

For the record, the only place that quote appears is on neo-nazi websites. There are no references to where or when it was said. So it appears to be nothing more than an outright fabrication. Needless to say, it is the height of hypocrisy to read this drivel on neo-nazi webpages that wholeheartedly espouse the very same 'Master Race' ideology they attribute to Begin.
The more interesting point, however, is the question of how someone like shootingsparks can refer to Nazism as a 'Jewish Construct' and yet concurrently refer to neo-nazi websites as authoritative 'proof' of zionism's nazi ideology. I cannot imagine what stretch of imagination and fantasy one must take in one's thinking in order to do so. Perhaps shootingsparks may enlighten us.

So in other words, you had no idea where the quote came from, but figured you should post it anyway. And it seems that there are no references anywhere to its source, whether by Jimmy Carter or anyone else on the website or video you linked to--merely some silly paraphrasing which I would not believe for a moment without actual quotations and proof. But there isn't any proof, is there shootingsparks? Some idiot figured he could fabricate some rubbish and attribute it to Carter; then some other idiot doubtless took the next logical step and directly attributed it to Menachem Begin. And then you post it here. And these are the websites and quotes you rely on--literally pulled from nothing more than thin air. What can I say?
