Today I Googled  "Rupert Murdoch Jewish." Don't ask why. I guess it was one of those things I'd given half a second's thought too and like all cultural enigmas that evade our immediate conscious, I knee-jerked reaction to Google. More important than the actual thought process behind my idle curiosity was the search engine's results. The third listing was a link entitled "Rupert Murdoch's Jewish Ancestors." I clicked on the link and the site,  "Jewwatch" (whose link I won't include since I don't want anyone giving them traffic) is described by Wikipedia as a website that claims to report accurate information regarding Jewish ownership and control over mass media and politics. Content on the site is divided into subcategories such as:

Jewish Controlled Press Jewish Entertainment Jewish Banking & Financial Manipulations Jewish-Zionist-Soviet Anti-American Spies Jewish Communist Rulers & Killers Jewish Terrorists

The site is owned by Frank Weitner who is a member of a white supremacist group and it garnered a lot of attention back in 2004 when it was ranked #1 on a Google search for "Jew." Today it comes up as #3 under a search for "Jew." A while back an online petition was circulated asking for 50,000 signatures to get the site removed from the #1 result slot. Unfortunately, while this step was a progressive gesture, it's still up there prominently highlighted, even as #3.
