Yet Another Reason Pat Buchanan is a Douche!

OK, I'm sure most of you know the obvious reasons why PB is el douche!  Today on MSNBC, he showed that he's not just an enemy of Israel, he is an enemy of the environment. (OK, melodramatic I know).

Outright denial that many of the world's scientists believe global warming will be harmful is pathetic. Malevolent is his extrapolation that a warmer planet is better because less people will die from the cold.  Like oh, it will be like a nice warm sunny day in more places...like a vacation.

Shame on him, but also shame on MSNBC.  Who the hell is he to give his opinion on global warming?  What credibility does he have in this arena?  Why would they ask him to opine?  People may believe he is an expert of sorts.  Its the theory of, well its on TV, so it must be true.

I just realized, what credibility does he have in the political arena as well?

Dvaid N. Friedman

The mythology of global warming

Science and the historical record demonstrate that the theory of catastrophic global warming is a myth.  At best, it is a lie, that is to say, an extreme exaggeration.  The fact that Pat Buchanan says this merely demonstrates that he is up to date on the science and is repeating known authority.

Further, it is also true that since many times more people are killed by the cold, a slight warming in some regions will be a net improvement for human health.  Must I be forced to say that It would be "malevolent" to wish that more people die instead of fewer people.  This is not very difficult.

It is shocking that so many people have fallen for the hysteria over global warming (the recent slight warming is factual, what will happen in the future is impossible to predict).

The politicization of the weather is the next sad chapter for our divided nation.  I am pleased to be on the right side but I wish we could contain contentious politics to the political arena.  Better, all people should investigate the gullibility of a world willing to blame the prosperous nations for the alleged killing of the planet.  Very tempting, not very true.

Pat Buchanan and Alex

Pat Buchanan and Alex Cockburn, both deriders of the conventional wisdom re global warming. What's a fella to think?

I say we get that guy Koffler on the case. He seems to have infinite time to research this sort of thing, and he presents his opinions rigorously and readably, as his take on the IQ kerfuffle demonstrates.

Friedman: and I suppose you have a PhD in meteorology?

Because as a non-scientist, I'd sooner believe that vast majority of qualified experts who say global warming is real (i.e.: see the IPCC report on climate change: http://www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/ar4-syr.htm) than the representatives of business interests who have much to lose from real action to control carbon emissions.  And I'm certainly not going to believe some commenter on a blog who cites to nothing more than "science and the historical record" to make bold claims.  I mean, if you can't even find a source at wikipedia to support your comment, it just demonstrates your total lack of credibility.

The fact is that right wing conservatives can't stand to accept the reality of global warming because if it's really happening, then they know the only solution is (a) regulation, and (b) that regulation has to happen at a supranational level.  Those twin solutions spell the end of right-wing conservatism.  Better to stick you head in the sand than abandon your ideology from something as pithy as the truth.

zbird = Low IQ

Richard Lindzen has a Phd in meterology

zbird doesn't.

Thefore I believe Richard Lindzen's words that  globa warming won't cause any catastrophe.

Btw, it seem that Jews are

Btw, it seem that Jews are over-represented in the global warming denial circle: Richard Lindzen, Fred Singer, Nar J. Shaviv, ... must be some kind of Protocols of Zion conspiracy.

brilliant post, anon 10:09

Now that you refer to a single Ph. D. who gets funding from business interests and the tobacco industry, I suppose I must discount the consensus of the vast majority of scientists worldwide?  I bet you can even find a couple PhD's who deny evolution.  I quiver at the thought of how my Weltanschauung will soon be reduced to rubble after you throw in a few more meaningless references.

zbird is dumber than Bush

"Now that you refer to a single Ph. D. who gets funding from business interests and the tobacco industry"

just a slander by leftists, there is no proof of this assertion.  NASA's James Hansen recieves money from George Soro's open society institute, yet he is hailed as a hero by leftists everywhere.  An another point, Richard Lindzen was a lead author of the 3rd IPCC report, so if he is not trustworthy, then IPCC itself is not trustworthy.

And As Steve McIntyre demonstrated, the "vast majority of scientists worldwide" couldn't even get basic temperature measurement data right.

Wow

I walk away from Jewcy for a few weeks and thought I got popular.  Stupid fuckin' me...it was just a post by morons stating the global warming is a good thing.

Whether it is going to be catastrophic or not depends on two things, how you measure catastrophe, and who will be impacted.  I'm not concerned about Mother Earth because I love the trees.  I do love trees actually.  I want to ensure my children and grandchildren have a livable environment.  This fuckin rock will keep turning whether we exist or not.

Goober

you should ensure your children and grandchildren don't become terrorists' slave or terrorists first.

Pat's bad point

I agree with Pat that some people will survive better due to warmer climate, but he fails to mention that many more will die due to rise in infections in warmer climates. Global warming and cooling cycles have always been there, but never before there was such a large contribution by humans, and we do not have any historical data to compare this to.

"many more will die due to rise in infections in warmer climates."
no evidence for this.
"but never before there was such a large contribution by humans, and we do not have any historical data to compare this to."
medieval warm period, doh!
