Where: The Lincoln Theater, 541 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach
Why: The Mosaic club’s goal is to bring Jews together and promote environmental awareness through worship and outdoor activities. They’ll all be at these services in the front few rows, so take a seat with them and prepare to schmooze afterwards. You might just come away with ten new Frisbee buddies. (Services are free for both members and non-members, but sign up quickly—advance RSVP is required.)

The Hipster: Way Too Cool for Hebrew School

Why: Alternative? Progressive? Aren’t those your two favorite words? Temple Israel offers several ways to get into the proper spirit of atonement, including a meditation service and social justice program.

Where: GiGi's Tavern, 346 Plaza Real, Boca Raton
Why: How often do you get to enjoy matzo-crusted salmon and meet the man of your dreams? A cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere will help you meet that special Jewish someone while you’re breaking the fast. Throw on your pumps and that string of pearls you stole from Grandma’s closet; you never know who’ll be sitting next to you. (Be sure to register soon; the last day to sign up is Thursday, September 20.)

The Nouveau Jew: Better Late Than Never?
What: Free services at Hillel
When: Friday, September 21, 7 PM; Saturday, September 22, 10 AM
Where: Kol Nidrei and Yom Kippur morning services are held at the Sesquicentennial Chapel, located at the corner of Spring and Maple St (across the street from the Shriver Center.) All other services are at Hillel, 11 East Walnut St.
Why: No previous experience or knowledge of Hebrew is required to attend and participate in this free mix of Reform and Conservative services, which are sponsored by Hillel at Miami University.

The Super-Jew: You've Got the Spirit, Yes You Do!
What: Conservative services

Where: Bet Shira Congregation, 7500 S.W. 120th St
Why: A vibrant service including Torah readings, a discussion and a learn-in. Get in the groove and stay all day.

The Intellectual: Smarter Than Jew
What: Yom Kippur learn-In
When: Saturday, September 22, 1:30 PM and 2:45 PM
Where: Bet Shira, 7500 S.W. 120th St
Why: You'll have two lectures and discussions to choose from, depending on your interest. First on the agenda is "Overcoming Addiction and Teshuvah: A Personal Account," followed by "Unetaneh Tokef: Does God decide whether we live or not?" Heck, put your thinking kippah on and take 'em both in. Use your newfound knowledge to impress your friends when you break the fast.

The Alterna-Parent: Day Care and Dinner Parties
What: Yom Kippur family service
When: Saturday, September 22, 3 PM
Where: 1701 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach
Why: The Children's Program includes a clown telling stories and leading holiday games, a choir, a puppet show, make-your-own apple and honey snacks and a shofar blowing contest. All families are welcome at this service, and no ticket is required, though you do need to make reservations.
