The Gantseh Megillah

Michael D. Fein

I discovered Jewcy recently while searching out new and interesting Web sites aimed at the Jewish community. I publish and edit another online magazine by the name of The Gantseh Megillah hence the name of this blog. I am always interested in conferring with other interested and interesting people and discovering their thoughts on the goings on in the world as it pertains to being Jewish or from a Jewish perspective.

I am not personally into religion. I believe Jewish culture, heritage, lifestyle, politics etc are separate from the religious aspects of Judaism. Of course, it is up to the individual to decide whether or not to incorporate their religious beliefs into their daily lives, but being Jewish, from my point of view, does not necessarily have to include with religious practice. I have no argument with people who practice religion of any type. If their religious beliefs and practice brings them comfort and support as well as guidance in their lives, that is fabulous. But it is not a part of what I examine or deal with in my publication, or in my pursuit of intellectual and personal connection.

I might also throw in, right from the start, that I am a gay man, who has been happily united with my partner for over 25 years. We live in Montreal, Canada and we are both intensely political. Thankfully we are essentially leaning in the same lefty direction, thus precluding any thought of divorce. :-)

This is all I shall say right at the moment, considering this is my first entry. I hope to make new friends and contacts via Jewcy, and I plan to add to my blog on a regular basis.
