I want to alert your attention to a new site that went live over the weekend, JEWESS, the Tribe’s Better Half!
(Funny, just now, trying to place that apostrophe in the right place, I found myself wondering why we are “The Tribe” and not “The Tribes” in which case the above heading should read, “Jewess, the Tribes’ Better Half. I mean, why is tribe singular when we use it in a conversational way, but plural when we talk about our ancestry? Hmmmm)
In any case, that’s neither here nor there. What IS here and there is Jewess! The site, written largely by Rebecca Honig Friedman is a spin-off from The Canonist, and promises to be a daily read for me.
From the looks of it, the site will have a sort of “woman on the street” reportage feel to it, which I like. Too many people yammering from the comfort of their kitchens already, hey? (says Laurel, yammering from her kitchen table )
The scoop:
Led by Senior Writer Rebecca Honig Friedman, the blog will contain daily news and blog roundups, as well as original reporting, insightful analysis, and much more. Joining Friedman are several writers focusing on more specific areas, and who will be posting on scheduled days of the week. These contributors include Amy Odell on health, OrthoMom on family issues, and Delly Hayward as “The Shiksa.”![]() |

It should be "the tribe's" because we are currently only the one tribe. The rest have come up missing, you see. We are called Jews as a shortening of our tribe's name: Judah.
