Israeli President Moshe Katsav was indicted on charges of sexual offenses and rape today. Katsav was rumored to be indicted for weeks now, but the prosecution felt that there wasn't enough evidence to go forward. According to prosecutors, " In cases like this, the string of continuous testimonies and complainants will suffice." Katsav has consistently proclaimed his innocence and has asked the Israeli media not to play the role of judge and jury. He sees himself as the victim of a witch hunt, and is convinced that someone will come forward and rescue him from the abyss of infamy and possible incarceration.
