Update: 100 People Make 'Schlep' to Florida on Sarah Silverman's Whim

The way New York Times tells it, one would think that Sarah Silverman's The Great Schlep has been a failure of epic proportions. The article states that to date, about 100 people have made the comedienne-dictated aliyah, a number that pales in comparison to the seven million or so who have watched the Great Schlep video, but nonetheless, 100 people that weren't in Florida before.

The Great Schlep is the brainchild of Mik Moore and Ari Wallach, the co-directors of the Jewish voter-advocacy group, JewsVote.org. In the Times story, Moore declared the initial turnout "a really good start," and hopes for "dozens" more Jewish youths to make the trek down to Florida to encourage elderly Jews to ignore the hype and vote for Barack Obama.

Some of the group's talking points include:

While the Times seems to see the Schlep's initial turnout as disappointing, based on Moore's statements, it sounds like it is exactly in line with expectations. The fact that 100 people traveled to Florida is remarkable. Through web traffic directed through Silverman's video, JewsVote.org has also raised $22,372, through Tuesday morning. The number of people who actually traveled to Florida shouldn't be viewed as a disappointment or failure to attract a larger contingency; it is a considerable success that The Great Schlep has garnered enough attention that 100 people actually went out of their way and traveled to Florida to support the cause, and that the New York Times is reporting on such.

First:

You do know that GOV. Sarah Palin is running for VP while the junior Senator of Illinois is running for President? The jobs are a little different. (If your answer is that McCain's so old he is not long for this world, try telling that to his 96 year old mother and your own elderly Grandparents who you supposedly give a crap about).

Second:

I guess you must think your own flesh and blood are racist, nuckle dragging idiots who keep two sets of white sheets along with two sets of dishes at their West Palm Beach condo.

Wait, considering who their grandchildren are, I may have to concede this point.

Nevertheless, I don't think your elders are as stupid, racist and full of religious (left-wing) fire as their A&F Stalinst brood who have plauged them this weekend (all 100 of them). Pathetic. I really like how you accept without question everything The One says about Israel without the slightest challenge. Louis Farrakhan who is also supporting "The Messiah" as he calls HIM would agree.

Apparently there were too many good reality shows on this weekend for the "politically conscience" to give a shit about Obama or Gandpa and grandma in that order.

The problem with the "Lame Generation" who go for all this Obama hype is that they  cannot get past their own trival selfishness. They are all for the revolution provided it doesn't conflict with "American's Next Top Model."

This may turn out to be McCain's saving grace (he has had more than a few in his long life). All the pompus, know-it-all schumcks think Obama / Biden have it in the bag and they will stay at home to watch whatever reality show happens to be on.

If you thought thousands were going to decend on Florida, you were wrong.

Perhaps you will be wrong about election day as well.

Remember, it's on November 7th. Don't forget.

PS to the Grandparents: Your grand kids think your idiots and they are so much smarter (and better) than you. Check out something called Legal Zoom.com and write the little bastards out of your will.

Let's hope that the Grant-rents don't get the old "Hymie Town" newspapers down in West Palm Beach.

Then again, their little pisher grandkids know better.

That's a gem, you crazy unhinged nuckle-dragger!!!

Gee thanks. It is always a pleasure to entertain and inform.

Of course, unlike some of your more sensible and "hinged" contributers,  I have no plans to play emotional blackmail, harangue or condescend to elderly relatives for political or any other reasons.

But to each his own. In fact, thanks to ACORN, not only can your grandparents vote for Obama, but your great, great, great great grandparents can vote twice for

"The One".

That is all.

Jesse Jackson has been no friend to the Obama campaign, every time he pops up it's timed to stir up division. He did the same thing during the primary. I dont know that Obama has ever met Farrakahn, so to put their names in the same sentence to infer a connection is dishonest at best.

I believe Jesse Jackson made his comments to Rupert Murdoch's New York Post to try to hurt the Obama campaign by splitting off the Jewish vote, for a nice fat wad of GOP cash...what else does he have going on? He is irrelevant these days, and he's probably chapped ass about it.
