I really like the clean look
I really like the clean look of the new design. Cheers to Craig, et al.
I do, however, get this funky little thing when opening an article page on my work laptop (which is a PC, using whatever the latest version of IE is out there), where it almost seems to re-direct before the page loads. So the page will begin to open, and then refresh, eventually landing on the right page. Not a big deal by any means, but thought you might want to know.

Got it. Thanks!

If you like it
The real honor goes to Tara. ...I guess even if you don't, Tara's the one responsible.
Adam, I'm gonna send you a message asking for more information.

The buck stops with JewcyCraig...
responsibility always goes elsewhere. :-) And where are the damn emoticoms? People never know when I'm joking or serious without them! :-(

HTML 6.0
<span style="satire"> Emoticons are too subject to interpretation. If you put a happy face, are you smiling because you were being facetious and jokey or because you're admiring your barb? The problem is that certain features of a text are particularly difficult to interpret when divorced from prosody, body language, facial expressions, and other informal interpersonal "tags" that tell you how to process the information when you're receiving it person-to-person.
This is why we at the W3C working group for HTML 6.0 (the 5.0 team are total reactionaries) are recommending html tags be used to convey information about the direction and tone of text. <facetiousness> <tangent> <sarcasm> <irony> <anger> are some of the tags we've agreed upon so far. Further elements will probably have to wait until HTML 7.0, but I think these five will be a good start. Obviously, all five of these will require a closing tag, none of them can be closed implicitly. </span>

Reality once again transcends satire
A reader informs me that there is actually a real-life W3C working group trying to standardize the expression of emotions online. Unbelievable.
I guess this means that I have to add a disclaimer that, no, I am not actually a member of that working group. What a world!

It's not terrible but...
The visual organization was much better before. The "Artist of the Week" worked better splashed across the top and bottom. This incorporated the art as part of the initial appeal, always changing, keeping the site fresh and edgy. It also made "Artist of the Week" a more integral part of Jewcy's cosmopolitan gestalt, a real feature as opposed to just another thing to click on. It was easily integrated, but litereally held an elevated sense of purpose and value. I do like that comments need to be clicked on, I thought the running posting took up too much space, and shouldn't be as visually important as content. I don't like the facelessness of this new design, seeing the feature writer's portraits was very inviting. The graphics for articles are generally terrific, I also liked the size of the images before although the 1,2,3,4 option of recent features is a great addition....The magazine like quality of the other layout had more, well, "Jewce" to it, it had more power. I don't think you need to sacrifice the new user friendly, weby techy bells and whistles, just bring back some of the dynamic warmth the old one had.
I can go on and on... there's another snowstorm in Chicago, my focus on Jewcy's new hairstyle, and time to actually write has coincided with major storm systems and extreme cold... Plus, as an artist, this is probably the only thing I'm truly qualified to comment on.

RSS feed
The RSS feed is no longer updating. Jeeks everywhere are VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU.
ETA: Sorry, I should say the RSS feed is no longer updating, according to my antiquated PC using Firefox and Live Bookmarks. Jeeks with antiquated PCs and Firefox who use Live Bookmarks everywhere are VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU. Also, the last one to show up was the Huckabee J-Post story. Thanks!

This new facelift is a bore, bring back Jewcy of yore
I think the old look had that special quality to it that was so uniquely Jewcy -- not anymore.I am sad to inform you that this facelift makes this present-day-Jewcy-look indistinguishable from myriad of other vapid and commonplace sites you'll find on the internet each day, that inspire no double takes, nor trigger double-clicks of their links.
I used to enjoy reading the most recent comments that used to appear on the upper right hand corner of your old homepage. That gave me an easy and quick snapshot of the hottest topics being debated by my favorite commenters.
BTW, the RSS feed (I use Google Reader / Firefox) is not updating the Jewcy site properly, just as Cavanaugh mentioned above.

title
The JEWCY logo looks secondary to the less eye-catchin "jewciest week ever" thing.

We're taking into account
We're taking into account all of this, for the record.
Ahem, just as an aside, though, you really don't need to double-click links. Single-click will work fine on the Web!
(Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

Feed me
I'm on Firefox and use stupid Bloglines but yeah - no feeds...bummer. Also, I did love the quotes and Jewcer of the day and such.

"
We're taking into account all of this, for the record." And the record will then be filed in the Jewcy archives, Craig? One flush is all it takes, eh? :-)
I don't notice much that's very different, but do miss the Jewciest comments. Still don't understand why I can't view all posts by other users on their profile, as I can with my own posts and on every other open forum I've ever visited. Was also hoping to see the new posts arranged by title and moved up with each comment. Haven't you folks noticed there are very few comments made here and no real discussions? There's a reason for that; the way they are structured here.

Jewcy´s Facelift
I didn´t like the facelift.
Plus, why would such a young, good-looking and bright website need one?
The former image was more eye-catching by far, I miss the jewciest comments, and the red color instead of the current black.
Please retrieve the former image, and flush the current one.

Firefox
I'm with Cavanaugh. I prefer to use Mozilla Firefox. You're forcing me to use Internet Explorer. Sorry, I'm deleting you from my favourites.

Opera problems
I use the Opera internet borwser and Jewcy does not display properly in Opera anymore.

Yeah, I was too nice, it's bad.
The more I look at it, the layout made much more sense before. It really is lacking now, it's ugly and totally uninteresting. It was so good, so much more dynamic, the visuals really pulled you into the content, the graphics that accompany the features are great, why hide them? OY!!!!!! You're breaking my heart here.

About the redesign...
Marla, we hear you, we hear you.
Here's a quick summary of why we implemented the redesign, and what's happening next.
From the time Jewcy launched, site visitors were confused by the way our content was organized—they didn't understand the difference between our different types of content, or know where to retrieve them (even some staff had problems with this). Over time we made the site pretty cool visually, but people still found the organization of content overcomplicated and confusing.
Instead of spending scads of time preparing for a single redesign that tried to kill all birds with one huge stone, we decided to simplify things first. So instead of having to look in several different places to find the different types of Jewcy content, you can now look in the center column to see everything we've published. Many visitors have said they like the simplicity of the new design, but others dislike the loss of visual "Jewce." So do we. We're gonna gradually restore the Jewce, but this time it'll be prettifying an uncomplicated organization of content.
The other main issue: although we added the "recent comments" tab next to the "recent posts" column, this doesn't promote user comments/discussions nearly enough. So we're going to be rectifying that, as well. In the end this should get you a homepage that looks sweet, makes it easy to find the stuff you want, and promotes the discussions that visitors are having.
So we're trudging along toward the best of all possible worlds, we think. The perfect Jewcy homepage is nigh! Not super nigh, but pretty damn nigh.
Thanks!
Joey

I typed with my toes too
Hi all, I think the feeds should be up and working again. You can access them from the homepage by clicking on the RSS Feed icon in your browser's location bar. I'd like to thank mom, dad, and Jesus for this.
