San Francisco Trying To Put The Clamp Down On Circumcision

By Another Rachel / November 15, 2010

The city of San Francisco is trying to cut out the snip-snip.  According to the San Francisco Examiner, one resident is proposing a ballot measure that would ban circumcision in the City.  The measure would change San Francisco’s police code “to make it a misdemeanor to circumcise, excise, cut or mutilate the foreskin, testicle or penis of another person who has not attained the age of 18.â€

If passed, the law proposed by Anti-circumcision activist Lloyd Schofield could carry a $1,000 fine and up to a year in prison.

it is scary to imagine a law like this in our life time. it brings home all the stories i heard in hebrew school about the assyrians forbidding jews to circumsize their sons.
