If this website were VH1, I’d venture a guess that Ms. Bar Refaeli was having the best week ever. We are not VH1, but it’s clear that the Israeli supermodel’s week is better than my last two years combined.

First up: Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend – who didn’t appear on the red carpet with him at either the SAGs or the Golden Globes – snagged one of the most sought-after honors in modeling, the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s annual swimsuit edition. Bar first appeared in the magazine last year and was the first-ever Israeli model chosen for the issue, but lost out to Marisa Miller for the cover.

According to the gossip mainstay Page Six, Bar wasn’t chosen as the cover girl just for her cleavage. The show was originally hosted by Cindy Crawford and later by Shalom Harlow and Amber Valletta. [Does anyone else remember the episode of the Clueless TV show where they were in acting class and Cher played Amber and Dionne played Shalom in a scene? Just me then? Okay.] Though I was a big House of Style fan back in the day, I’m not entirely sure why MTV has decided to resurrect the program now, right in the middle of a recession that’s hitting the fashion industry hard and making regular consumers less interested in couture. But, regardless, snagging the hosting job is quite the coup for Bar, so I wish her a very hearty mazel tov
