Anybody who has seen the fantastic documentary on David Berman’s journey (and spirtual awakening) to Israel, Silver Jew, might have caught wind of the fact that the former leader of the Silver Jews is the son of notorious Washington D.C. lobbyist, Richard Berman.

After attending David Berman’s recent lecture at the Open City Summer Workshop, co-editor (along with Justin Taylor) of the fantastic lit and art journal, Agriculture Reader, Jeremy Schmall, contributed a fantastic, and very recommended essay, "David Berman and Epistemological Closure in the Propaganda State," at HTMLGiant.

"Berman’s goal now is to become his father’s nemesis, to shame him into quitting his business, or to at least admit what he’s doing is wrong. To do this, Berman is creating a documentary film, which is something Berman doesn’t want to be doing. He doesn’t like it, just how he didn’t like writing, and how he didn’t like touring. He’d rather be at home in Nashville with his wife."
