  • Nicholas Hughes, son of Sylvia Plath, has committed suicide, 46 years after his mother’s infamous suicide.
  • The trial begins today for the gunman responsible for the November Mumbai attacks. Mohammed Ajmal Kasab is charged with 12 counts, including waging war on India.
  • New York City radio reporter George Weber was found stabbed to death in his Brooklyn apartment.
  • A senior Fatah official and three of his bodyguards were killed in an explosion as they left a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon.
