Jews are really good at writing books about bad situations.  I’d have to guess it’s because we’ve spent thousands of years getting kicked around and wondering to ourselves things like “If I really cross that parted sea, is anything going to really change?”

We’re also good at making the forthcoming bleakness seem funny.  Gary Shteyngart did it last year with Super Sad True Love Story, and now one of America’s greatest comic minds, Albert Brooks, is giving us 2030: The Real Story of What Happens to AmericaThe New York Times talks to Brooks about the book, and the hilarious downfall of America.
