First came the news that Hannibal Buress was leaving the SNL writing room (big loss, he’s the funniest guy in the universe at the moment), now comes word that Lorne Michaels has cut Jenny Slate from the lineup.

"the source said. Ms. Slate, a veteran of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, had a bit of a trial by fire at "S.N.L." when she accidentally used an obscene word during the first episode of the 2009 season. But after settling in at the show, Ms. Slate went on to portray quirky characters like the television pitchwoman Tina-Tina Chaneuse."

I know I’m not Lorne Michaels –I make in a year what he makes in a day– and I don’t want to sound like the #1 nerd in the Jenny Slate fanclub, but Jenny Slate is HILARIOUS, what are they thinking?  Unless Fred Armisen is content with being in just about every sketch, or they plan on making Betty White a permanent cast member, I feel pretty confident to raise the white flag right now on this upcoming season.
