The best you’re going to find is a Rosh Hashanah service at an interdenominational synagogue (which should appeal to your don’t-pin-me-down indie spirit) featuring music by the world’s greatest pop band. Ahavat Olam‘s music-filled service at Miami's Signature Gardens on September 12 mixes in Beatles songs with its liturgy. True, the backing musicians—the Big Bad Bima Band—have a cringe-inducing name, and you’ll never be able to brag about seeing Cantor Danny Marmorstein “before he sold out.” But seriously? It’s the Beatles. Don’t even try arguing with the Beatles.

Join him for everything from Selichot through Shabbat services on the second day of Rosh HaShanah.

The play's the thing at Miami's Bet Shira Congregation, where the High Holy Day season kicks off on Saturday, September 8, with an evening of Torah learning, theatrical reflection and uplifting music during Selichot. Torah Theater: "Meet and Greet Moses" will feature the talented Robert Dawson portraying the biblical hero, and spiritual and musical prayers will follow the performance.
