FIRST FRUITS FESTIVAL featuring GIRLS IN TROUBLE with THE RIVER EMPIRES plus LIKE A VILLAIN
Jun 08, 2011 at 7:30 PM
TICKETS $7, DOORS 7:30PM.

In a contemporary spin on the traditional celebration of Shavuot, the First Fruits Festival is proud to present the “haunting beautiful” (LA Weekly) songs of GIRLS IN TROUBLE along with late night teaching sessions hosted by PSU’s Schusterman Teaching Fellow Dr. Loren R. Spielman, a specialist in Ancient Jewish History, and Rabins, who in addition to playing a mean fiddle holds an MA in Women’s Studies from the Graduate School at Jewish Theological Seminary. Together they will explore the texts and themes that inspired “Girls in Trouble” over drinks and ice-cream at the Woods.

The First Fruits Festival is sponsored by the Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies at Portland State University and the Foundation for Jewish Culture, whose mission is to invest in creative individuals to nurture a vibrant and enduring Jewish identity, culture and community.
