I knew from the first second when he peers down from his newspaper studiously that we were in for a fun time.
I'm pretty familliar with all of the stories he referred to before even getting to the genocide, and they were pretty horrible factwise (I mean aside from the Jews having a hand in everything ever thing, the regular old run of the mill factuality and interpretations of just about everything he talked about was insane.
But then when he gets to the genocide, wow. The Turks changed language from Arameic... to Turkic... under Ataturk? And so then Ataturk (who was not in power in 1915) decided to do the genocide?
Even his assertion that "just about all the Armenians were wiped out" is not accurate. It's clear he's probably never even heard of them before, saw that they were in a dispute with a Jewish group so just did about 2 minutes of research (and/or made the whole thing up operating on the notion that the reason he never heard of them before was because they were all "basically wiped out".
I love the way he seems to continuously just fuel his own gross exaggerations by tacking on further gross exaggeration after further gross exaggeration.

i have seen cpotato2004 or his real name is frank Weltner, on youtube alot. I have also reported his videos to youtube with out a response or action on franks postings. 

 Frank is also leader of  jewwatch.com. He has ties to neo nazi groups around the nation.

Even though i detest his ignorant and hateful speech. He can run it on this payed for site. that is freedom of speech. But he cannot post hate on a publicly visited and free site.

Also they are not in fact "going after" jewtube.com - a third paty, NetParty LLC, tried to trademark the word Jewtube so that they could use it on their Jewish party page and display videos of their Matzo Ball type singles events. Like Mr Eugenides, the writer of this post, I too am "a near-absolutist on free speech." While I find this video offensive, I don't think it is, or ought to be illegal and subject to banning. The First Amendment prevents the government from passing laws "abridging the freedom of speech" and while this does not protect someone screaming fire in a crowded movie house because of the imminent danger posed by such an utterance - I don't see any such imminent call to harm Jews in any of Frank's inane videos. Furthermore, even if YouTube bans these videos, they'll just pop up elsewhere. I prefer the marketplace of ideas to determine the worth of any speech.

This guy is clearly an odious creep with the historical sophistication of a macaroon, but YouTube should do nothing to silence or disappear him, for reasons that should be obvious to the alert 6th grade civics student.

First, on a practical level, what if his hateful screed is salted with the occasional coherent opinion? Shall the entire performance be dispatched to the memory hole? The offensive portions redacted? What proportion of reasonable opinion to senseless hate shall be permitted? Who shall appoint the Expurgation Committee? And so on.

Second, everyone has his or her opinion regarding exactly which degree of filth requires urgent action-Catherine MacKinnon and I have different levels of tolerance for admiring depictions of the freaky deaky- so most liberals advise pitching the tolerance limits to the most inclusive standard.

Third, notions like "hate speech" and "near-absolutist regarding free speech" give me the willies-on stilts. I recently attended a talk by Mazin Qumsiyeh, a Palestinian-American who has made a second career of mounting an unrelenting critique of Zionism. To me, he's mostly persuasive and sometimes incorrect, but there is no evidence that he contains anti-Semitic bone #1 in his diminutive body. Nevertheless, many of his critics were absolutely rabid , not in countering his arguments, but in denouncing him personally, on no evidence, as a demonic hater with deep animus towards Jews. There is no doubt in my mind that these folks would draw no distinction between Qumsiyeh and your YouTube lunatic.
So while you and I agree that the latter is a worthless turd, some dopey citizens may not, and, worse, another class of dopey citizens would see us and raise us, expanding the worthless turd category to include unpopular but rational opponents.

There is simply no way to decide with sufficient consensus what's rubbish and what's not, and then to decide which rubbish is of sufficient odor to warrant erasure. "I know it when I see it" just won't do.

So, anything legal goes. Mohammed cartoons, holocaust denial, tasteless affirmative-action parodies, no-redeeming-value zombie gore, even Israeli hummus.

Thanks, Ismail, for that reminder about the principle of free speech and the risks we agree to take when we value free speech (namely, the risk that we may be deeply, deeply offended). Another reminder: censoring those who hate Jews (or hate Blacks, or hate Gays, or hate...) does not change the minds of the haters. It merely hides and masks the hate, replacing it with politically-correct empty statements. Censorship does not lead to meaningful dialogue (not that this Frank dude seems to be very much interested in dialogue, but perhaps some of his YouTube viewers would take a moment to listen to other, more factual responses).

If Youtube decides to ban this hate video, it is not violating free speech rights. Youtube is not some government entity that has to allow both sides equal time. They are operate under free enterprise principles and are entitled to ban images that they find will hurt their bottom line. They already ban pornography so there is nothing that should prevent them from banning this tripe.

I wrote to Frank aka cpotato telling him to get his historical facts right, also told him that he needs to get the geography correct....the city of Watertown is not in Jew Jersey... :-)

I rather see and know what my enemies do and say. Banning and sensorship is an ADL tactic that enforces "political correctness" and prevents open discussions of issues. History Man, answer this question.

How many Armenians were serving in Ottoman Army at the beginning of WWI, and and how many of them got killed by their fellow soldiers in 1915? My grandfather was a soldier in Ottoman Army, but he was too tough to be killed, so he survived, his sister, mother, cousins, and his 7 children did not.

Turks claim that Armenians also killed lots of Turks, but they are not saying that it was really the Russian Army as a whole going crazy after they discovered the thousands of corpses of Armenian women and children.

Seems like Turks were very brave killing over a million of helpless people, but had trouble dealing with 40,000 fedayis. If it was not for those fedayis, there would not have been any Armenians left today and there would not have been any issues. Funny that you call a person trying to defend his people and historical home an insurgent.

No need to blame Russian soldiers. Just one of the "heroic" deeds of fedayis in Van was describe by Alexandra Tolstoy, daughter of Leo Tolstoy when she served in Russian Imperial Army. Being from Ukraine I had translated this from Russian and showed this to an Armenian-American, he said that this torture was in "self-defence". Frankly, after hearing that I never viewed Turkish-Armenian conflict in the same light. TYPHUS.  page 41     Destroyed city of Van. Before we arrived,the horrible battles
between Turks and Armenians took place here. Turks were trying to siege the fortress of the city of Van,located at the mountain top,where Armenians took the defence. Armenians almost lost: growing shortage of food and shells could have forced them to surrender,but our Cossacks helped them at the last minute. The bloody battle took place, great number of people died on the both sides. Corpses were thrown in the lake,where they disintegrated -- the lake was poisoned and no one was able to drink from it,or eat fish. Turks left, leaving in the city about  1.000 prisoners: sick, women, children. Armenians out of revenge -- burned the whole Turkish district of the city, and because clay-made houses cannot be burned easily, Armenians burned each house -- one by one. 

For the few days, before we found permanent house,we lived in thehouse of American missionary Mr. Yarrow. A large, comfortable house --bathtub, four clean bedrooms, soft beds, large living and dining rooms--all that seemed to be unbelievably luxurious.  During the night something was biting me and my whole body wasitching, but I fell  asleep... Next morning I've noticed whitish insectson my body. They were lice.

I could not understand, how those civilized, clean, elegant people could have gotted
lice in their house? From where? -- The entire ground, buildings, where the prisoners
of war are located - everything is contarminated by lice-- explained to me American
missionary Mr. Yarrow -- We can't do anything. Mr. and Mrs. Yarrow and their three  children -- two boys and a girl- werevery nice people and I liked them a lot.
It seemed to me that they were waiting for us. They needed help. I did not know Doctor Russell,who worked at the mission, as well as Mr.Yarrow's family. He and his wife got typhus, right before our arrival. When I saw what we have to do, I've realized that  we can do very little:Two large school buildings. Completely empty rooms -- no beds, no tables,no chairs-- nothing.  On the floor I saw dirty, covered with shreds, bodies.  Turks. Men,women, elderly, young, children... Altoghether in the pile.  Moan, rave,  cry of little children... Some had sucpicious spots on their faces. What is it? Smallpox? The dirty, thin hands were trying to reach us, women cried, asked for something, they  were begging us,trying to explain something in Turkish:

Elders were quite. Sulky, embittered, they didn't even looked at us.They were busy.

 -- I've read in the newspapers that Turks were killing Armenians-I said  
 -- All kinds of things happened.There were massacres by both sides- replied Mr.Yarrow
 
  Of course, during this war both things have taken place. The anymosities between Turks and Armenians continued for centuries. Cryelty was on theboth sides, but here, in the city of Van, we saw inhumane cruelty of Armenians. People said that Armenians cut women's breasts,twisted andbroke legs and arms. I saw personally the victims of this  inhumane cruel-ty.  I didn't feel comfortable to stay any longer in the American's house,so we moved into the armenian house. One room was occupied by the stu-dents,the other one was left for me. My assistant and soldier got room on the first floor.
 
 When we came to Van part of the prisoners of war already died. Only 800 people
left. We organized feeding,tried to provide hot water for washing people and clothing.    One day we saw how two Turkish boys were carrying corpses on the stretchers. (Everyday15-20 corpses were thrown into the old trenches and somehow covered with earth.) Two boys were carrying the stretcher. We stopped them. Old man. His eyes were closed,he seemed not to breathe,one hand was hanging down in the air. I've grabed it to check pulse,suddenly old man opened his eyes,took away his hand and put it on his chest.

  -- Alive!

We send the old man back, but ever since we always checked whether there is anyone alive among corpses. Some could not handle it-- they were readyto throw up when they saw a horrible pile of dark-blue corpses in the trenches and smell the horrible odor of that pile of corpses... Few hundreed Kurdish and Turkish women -- sick, wounded, were dying with-out care in the former american schools, without furniture, without beds,with miserable food that Kurdish and Turkish women made from corn. Everyday  about 20 people were dying from typhus...
