You are correct. During WW ll Turks did get involved militarily with the Axis on the Fifth Column side. They created secret armed groups to be dropped behind Russian lines and instigate local Turkic people of Crimea, Azerbaijan, etc. to foment trouble . These groups were lead by Turkish Army officers....Very few people know these facts.
