The Zionist settlers in 1915 were very much aware of what was happening to Armenians and were terrified that it would soon happen to them. With good reason. The Turkish commander in Palestine, Djemal Pasha, had launched an ill-considered and disasterous attack on the British in Egypt, like Enver in the Caucuses.
