I'd have to agree that the romanticized notions of the Amish presented here are not that accurate. Your overall point is a good one: walking in more forgiveness and love, but the Amish are not the group to exemplify those behaviors. I have many close dealings with the Amish community (both in Pennsylvania and Missouri) and I can say with certainty that they are not, by and large, the godly, simple, sweet people that many make them out to be.
Before writing an article with undertones of such respect and admiration for a group, some research into that group might be in order.
