Gun Control

If a person is planning to commit a murder, they can get a weapon, and nothing gun control can do is going to change that. How many murders, though, are really planned out as opposed to someone "blowing up" under extraneous circumstances and having a weapon nearby? An ordinary citzen would probably nnot buy an illegal gun just to keep around the house, but under enough stress, many are tempted to use legal ones.

And what regular civilian really needs a gun in the house? A properly stored hunting rifle in the hands of a trained sportsman, maybe, but pistols? Assault rifles? I know some deer hunters but I don't think they use assault weapons. People sometimes feel more secure in their home with a gun but it is much more likely to be used against a family member than successfully against an intruder, as a gun in the hands of a panicked novice is not very helpful. Yes, the Bill of Rights states Americans' right to bear arms. This is a point that gun control opponents love to bring up, conveniently forgetting to mention that in the Constitution "arms" means blunderbusses, as well as the fact that people actually needed guns when it was written.

Believe me, I hate government control. But if by outlawing the sale of pistols and assault weapons to civilians we can save tremendous amounts of lives at the sole expense of violating a ridiculous interpretation of the Constitution, then why not?
