I know we will never completely get rid of guns in America - nor do I think we should. However, I always find it odd when people oppose strict gun control. There really is no logical reason for such staunch opposition. To drive a car in this country you must: Take an education and instruction class; pass a written and driving exam; be finger printed and photographed; issued a license; carry insurance; and every 5-10 years renew said license. I see no reason why at the very least these same standards should also be in place for gun ownership. Additionally, I think local AND federal background checks should be conducted on potential gun owners.
In the wake of this tragedy I hope at the very least a serious and legitimate debate on gun control reform takes place in this country.
