My mom also tested negative for BRCA 1 and 2 but we realize that some genetic mutation is responsible for the fact that my mom, her sister, and their paternal grandmother all had breast cancer (their father/son died at the age of 36 of liver cancer). Breast cancer seems almost common in my life. My mother's best friend died of it as did my best friend's mother. My friend decided to have a prophelactic mastectomy - I too am considering it. She says she doesn't want to leave her three kids the way her mom left her. I don't want to leave my baby or go through the nightmare treatment my mom had either. And so, although they have served me well until now - I too may just have them removed. The articles are excellent, I look forward to more. Thank you (and Anonymous) for sharing.
