Absent from the sensationalism

The suggestions that a modesty standard is causing a supposed outbreak of radical frum sex is a gross inaccuracy.

In a world awash with pornography and broken relationships--it is an obvious bit of malice that brings the secularists to write these stories. It is no news story when a liberal succumbs to sexual sin.  When a traditional Jew falls prey to the same human emotion it is somehow big news.

The insult takes place when it is understood that despite the fact that traditional Jews very, very rarely fall prey to the emotion--- the GOTCHA follows as the cause of the corruption of the frum Jew is alleged to be Judaism itself--giving the secularist the double virtue of claiming not only that frum Jews are just like the secular (which they are definitely NOT) but further, and much more importantly, it is those unrealistic Jewish standards which are the cause of the scandal.

It is a funny thing:  the FDA will approve a drug as effective if it performs only a bit better than a placebo.  A frum life is so much more of a standard of effectiveness by the percentages against sexual impropriety, it should be hailed by our community as a model for everyone.  Instead, we attempt to bring shame on the community and suggest it is repression of sexual desire that causes a "outbreak" that is really more of an anecdote than a scandal.

It is fine to cover the story--but if it is reported without balance and context, it is a smear and a demonstration of malice.
