Does anyone know any 'whites' who actually think of themselves as primarily being 'white'? I don't think I've met anyone who does that, and if they refer themselves as 'white' then it's usually in an ironic, or other type of humorous moment.
I have no idea if this is relevant to anything at all--other than this big dialogue on race might actually be a little one-sided, as in how can 'whites' have a dialogue if being 'white' really doesn't have any meaning.
Now, if there was a dialogue between African-Americans and folks with gray hair, I'm on that.
