There are cults and there are cults.

I worry about the fact that the Church of Scientology, which teaches that non-Scientologists are not actually human, but are possessed by the ghosts of murdered space aliens, have an armed navy called SeaOrg that is based out of Clearwater, FL. Scientology teaches that I am an opponent of their church, and thus "fair game" (the official term for a "suppressive person" who is to be dealt with by any means necessary), just for having said the above.

I believe in religious pluralism and diversity. But not when it comes to supporting the religious freedom of a 'church' bent on wiping out religious freedom. The difference between the 'tough words' of C0$ and the 'tough words' of the Torah is that it is not a central tenet of all Judaism to teach ordinary Jews that it's their job to brainwash others and to eliminate, either through lawsuits or through threat or through actual force, those who don't believe in Judaism.

Also, people who stop believing in Judaism or Christianity or Islam or what have you rarely deeply regret their former religious affiliation in the way that drives former Scientologists to join nationwide protests against the C0$.
