E-mail: Obama "Jew hating bigot"

Marty Beckerman

A series of paranoid viral e-mails identify Barack Obama as a "covert Muslim" who wants to share U.S. nuclear codes with his (near-namesake, OMG) Osama bin Laden. A forwarded message making the rounds in Jewish circles describes Obama as "Jew hating" and compares him to David Duke(!). "Alan," the author of the e-mail, explains that Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ -- which Obama attends -- supports a boycott of "apartheid state" Israel and presented its "2007 Lifetime Achievement Award" to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, whom Alan describes as "this country's most vicious Jew/white hater." The e-mail concludes by asking: "Makes you wonder about the media getting all hyped up about Romney's Mormonism and Huckabee's deep seated religious beliefs doesn't it?"

It's unclear whether Alan is a rival campaign operative or simply a concerned citizen. The Trinity United story has already seen exposure (see here and here); Obama's pastor admitted that the Farrakhan relationship means "a lot of [Obama's] Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell." Obama, who seems to have a more sophisticated view of the Middle East than many other candidates (*cough*Iraq*cough*) has addressed AIPAC's concerns, but also said, "Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinian people." He has chided his church's leadership in the past, but his continued membership leaves him open to accusations of guilt by association.

If you have received an Obama smear e-mail -- or know if they're part of an orchestrated campaign -- please comment in the forum below.

(P.S. In bed the other night, my girlfriend kept describing how "handsome" she considers Obama -- is she fantasizing that I'm a "Jew-hating bigot" when she closes her eyes?)

(P.P.S. Our safety word is "David Duke.")

Take a step back fand take a look from a very high vantage point of their society for the past century.  When you do you will see that the Palestinian people are suffering right now.  They have a cancer spreading through their society - tearing them apart.  They have hatred worming its wa into their hearts and minds.  They have lost hope of developing a state due to the constant screwups of their leaders and also current Israeli policy towards them.

One can only blame the constant Israel the recent (20+ years) policy of invasion, divison, suppression, demolition, confiscation, and povertization of the Palestinian society as a whole for the creation of the mosters that now plague the Gaza strip and threaten the West Bank.

You reap what you sow. Lets see if the current leaders of Israel and Palestine are able to find common ground so that the healing can start for the Palestinian.  Only ending the cycle of no hope to build a better future can eliminate the cancer that is prevalent in the Palestinian society and eliminate the never ending threat to Israel.

Only a president Barack Obama will be able to bridge this gap between the Jews and Palestinians.  Do not expect Bush or any other Republican to do so - look at the record.  Do not expect Hilary to do so.  These canidates are beholden to the military industrial complex that runs this country and enslaves others.  We need someone with no strings attached to them to work the issues - including eliminating the suffering that is plaguing the Palestinian society and fear of elimination of the states existance that Israelis live under.

"Spiro Agnew" is better, it rolls off the tounge when screaming.

It's sad that people are more willing to resort to blatant lies to rid the presidential race of a candidate than they are to simply support the candidate of their choice on his or her merits.  And how can the same slimy attack include slams on Obama being a Muslim so devout he's willing to give Osama the go code, and at the same time harp on his membership to a particular church?  Hypocrisy, thy name is "Alan."

Also, go with "Nixon" for the safety word.  Has the immediate effect of ruining the mood (unless you're Alex P. Keaton) and also carries ironic significance, since you're cutting your experience off short.

I'm sure that David Axelrod, Obama's campaign manager, was quite surprised...

It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic and potentially damaging.

... by one of Clinton's Iowa co-county chairs.  Caused a bit of a fuss a month or so back.

I've not received any of these emails, but I can tell they're everywhere, because I spend an awful lot of time explaining to people I work with that no, Obama is not a Muslim, and no, his church is not black separatist and he's not a racist.

I had to "LOL" at your safe word... my boyfriend and I use "Margaret Thatcher."

Barack Osama

Barack Osama is a complete fraud.

As a non-white American I am furious at the DNC for repeatedly trotting out black politicians with no qualifications whatsoever. Jesse Jackson called NYC "that Hymie town" as a reference to our large Jewish population. He is a clown. Al Sharpton, who may be the biggest blowhard of all time, will hitch his wagon to anything and everything, facts be damned. That man is a clown. I have run into him in a private club he is not a member of but abuses their hospitality almost daily. He had a woman dressed just like him (suit, haircut, shoes) in his entourage, it was unclear if she serves as a body double in his security detail, but easily could. That part was just for the amusement factor.

Not one qualified, legitimate black politician has ever been championed by the DNC. There are no blacks in positions of responsibility or power within the party, nor have there ever been...and don't give me Donna Brazile, be serious. Liar, liar, pants on fire.

Now we have Barack Osama, the new black face of the DNC as a serious contender for president. The man was running for president during his senate campaign in what can only be described as typhoid-like hysterical delusions of the DNC machine. He has accomplished nothing as a senator and has only campaigned for president. What a joke. To complement his lack of experience is his dedication to hate.

Yes, Barack Osama is an outspoken member of his church of racism. He hates white people, Jews and of course Israel. The evidence is clear, he has given all indications of his hatred for Jews and Israel...just pay attention. Oh, and maybe note how the media is systematically snuffing out references to these things along the way.

I hope he wins the nomination, because he will get slaughtered in a general election.

Wise up Jewcy, Vote Bloomberg (if possible).

 Hugs and Kisses.

I don't think it's unfair though to point out things about Obama like this: http://www.nysun.com/article/62534

Care to comment on how Egypt (they did create the ghetto called gaza), Jordan (Black September ring a bell with you) or Lebanon (have you read the news recently) have treated the Palestinians and use them as fodder in their hatred of a Jewish state?

I doubt you will.

imagine

In which people wrote
The people in Israel are suffering. No matter how they help, they are constantly attacked and murdered in their sleep, during bar mitzvahs, in schools, in buses or just wandering down the street. All these attacks are by arabs who do nothing to build a civilization with the billions of dollars of aid given to them by the world and the UN, and only buy guns and teach their children hatred. No matter what the Israelis do: take care of them in their hospitals, provide them with fuel and medicine and food, give them lessons in agriculture, the israelis only get a relentless remorseless enemy bent on simple random murder whose leaders want nothing more than to kill every jew in the middle east. Jews cant buy land in the west bank or jordan or lebanon or iraq or tunisia or algeria and are excluded in an apartheid manner from any interactions with the arab world. At international meetings they are not allowed to enter by the front door. No one will talk to them. It is time that the world stands up to the arab oil cartel and its enormous political influence and stands up for the rights of a people who are forced to live a nightmare. And all because arab countries would not allow their citizens back into their home countries after the 1948 arab- israeli wars and forced them to live in gaza and lebanon and in jordan, where they have no right to work. And all that has to be done to change this affair is to remove the hatred and violence of the arabs.

Obama is considered a muslim by the laws of malaysia, indonesia, egypt, saudi arabia and most other islamic countries. you can not change your religion, the penalty is death. It is not Obamas choice. It is the law. And the sermons and teachings of his church are well known and he equates arab murder with apartheid. The voter can determine whether he or she is willing to allow these facts to enter their decisions. But they are facts, not propaganda.

What Obama actually said was that no one is suffering more than the Palestinian people -- BECAUSE of Hamas! He criticized the elected Hamas government for its refusal to recognize Israel and renounce terrorism which prompted the international isolation the government brought upon the Palestinian people, thus making them suffer. That quote has been taken completely out of context. Obama's ability cut to the heart of an issue (the Hamas government is not only bad for Israel, but for the Palestinians as well) is easily manipulated by those with an agenda.

then good for obama.  I actually like the guy.  but the more I looked into his background, the shadier it got.  and my grandmother who has the ability to discern the evil eye from 20 paces says something is wrong.  also his position papers are fluff

Phantom

Yeah, I thought my grandma was good with the evil eye thing too until she endorsed Bush 8 years ago.  But that may have been because it was easy for her to say the name "Boosh", probably because "Aboosh" means stupid in Armenian, a word she used several times a day to describe my dad!

Anyway, back to Obama.  As between Obama and Hillary, Obama appears to be the less war-mongering of the two.  Does that make him anti-Israel?  I hope Jewish-Americans don't vote Hillary because they think war-mongering by America is good for Israel.  In any case, whether or not a war-mongering America is good for Israel, the question to resolve should be whether or not it is good for America.

Manny Jacobowitz

The post by "Barack Osama" is racist and deranged in tone, but just in case anybody takes it seriously, I can tell you that I took a class from Obama at U Chicago and what you see is what you get.  He is the furthest thing possible from a bigot -- anti-white, anti-Semitic, whatever. He treats everyone with utmost courtesy and respect, which is how he has built a career of bipartisan achievements.

I don't know what "background" Anonymous at 6:33pm (or his psychic grandma) is talking about, but if there was ever a candidate whose past was an open book, it is Obama. As for his "fluffy" position papers, um, compared to whose?  They're campaign statements, not doctoral theses, you know.

And, "imagine," why are you blaming Obama for "the law" in other countries calling him a Muslim? Those same countries call Israel a Muslim land because it was once part of the Ottoman Empire - does that make it so? This is America, and Obama chose to be a Christian. If you don't like that he gets to make that choice, why don't you move to Egypt?

"It's unclear whether Alan is a rival campaign operative or simply a concerned citizen."

Why are you even mentioning this? A ten year old girl can send a viral e-mail to drive Justin's latest song up on I-Tunes. Any nut can send out e-mails.

There was the Daniel Pipes thing. That was nasty, but did ask whether Muslim nations would see Obama as an apostate. Not that Radical Islam needs another excuse to hate America, but the Chris Matthews theory that a black President who renounced Islam would mitigate anti-American passions is doubtful.

My bet is Obama ducked the Kyl-Lieberman vote to have it both ways with AIPAC and the anti-war left. That's consistent with his 'present' tactic in the legislature. He only started hitting Clinton on K-L when he saw Edwards using it to target the anti-war vote.

Speaking about Edwards -- how about Chris Matthews saying New Hampshire voters were racist because they polled for Obama then voted for Clinton. Excuse me -- John Edwards? If whites wouldn't vote for a black man, why not vote for Edwards over Clinton? Isn't it just as likely that they didn't think Obama was the best candidate, but were afraid pollsters like Chris Matthews would call them racist?

In the past week, I have been sent both the "Obama is a Muslim" email and the one that says Obama's church is for blacks only - both from different people.  I responded to each, telling each sender that I although Barack Obama was not my personal choice as of yet, I thought it was wrong of them to mass forward emails that were not only untruthful, but outright character assasinations as well.  I did not receive a reply from either of them - whether from anger or from shame, I'm not sure.  I have not yet been sent the one accusing him of being an anti-semite.  I guess that's because I'm not Jewish.

In 2000, John McCain was smeared in South Carolina in the same type of way.  I can only hope that someday the politics of destruction will cease and people will vote for candidates based on their platforms and not on their names, religions, gender or color.

"My bet is Obama ducked the Kyl-Lieberman vote to have it both ways with AIPAC and the anti-war left."

Actually Obama was going to be there but Reid rescheduled the vote - making it happen sooner - and Obama wasn't able to get back for it.

"That's consistent with his 'present' tactic in the legislature"

He was asked to vote that way by Planned Parenthood, in order to provide cover for another legislator, in a tactical voting thing.

Obama was able to get legislation passed in Illinois, despite strong resistance, that requires police to videotape the questioning of suspects. To keep the Chicago cops, and others, from beating and torturing people.

Are NYC cops still free to ram plungers up the asses of suspects?

And of course Clinton voted for the war that made torture US policy.

It's bad enough that some racist gun nut might go after Obama just for being black. These 'Muslim' canards add the possibility that some Fox-addled islamophobe gun-nut Bush-tard will go vigilante against the supposed crypto-Muslim threat.

Coincidentally JGdmn, Spiro Agnew was my family's name for jock itch (crotch rot).

My father was horrified when I, as a toddler, was running around at a party shouting that my father has Spiro Agnew on his peepee.

To person with the laughably tired "Barack Osama" title for his/her comment. I'm sure you are aware already, but you sound just crazy. And not the I-can't-help-it-I-am-crazy, trying to be the best me I can be crazy. I mean, you sound crazy like a jerk who doesn't let fact inconvenience malformed theory. Does it bother you ever? Do you ever feel bad about how you act? Do you ever consider taking a deep breath and trying to do better? You know you can do it, if you really wanted to.

TPMer

M.J. Rosenberg wrote about receiving one of these despicable and false emails on the TPM Cafe blog:

If you are Jewish and a Democrat, you have probably already received
one of the e-mails about the danger Barack Obama's election would pose
to Jews and Israel.

Reporters who cover the Jewish world have also received calls --
some associated with other campaigns, some not -- asking them to
investigate the Obama threat. One reporter told me that he has been
called repeatedly by a figure in the American Jewish community who
charges him with cowardice for not revealing the "truth" about Obama.

The "truth" of course is a lie, a lie so obvious that one would
think no one would believe it. But apparently some people do (although
campaign operatives who are pushing the story almost surely don't).

The big lie about Obama is that he is a practicing Muslim. He (and
his wife, children, etc) only pretend to be church-going Christians in
order to get into the White House.

It's hard to believe anything so stupid.

Think of it. If Barack Obama had decided to pretend that he was
Christian so he could become President, he certainly would have changed
his name. In fact, he did the opposite. Known in high school as
"Barry," as an adult, contemplating a career in politics, he started
going by the name "Barack" again, hardly what he would do if he was
trying to deceive people about his background.

But it was Joseph Goebbels's who said that little lies are never as
successful as the "big lie." That is why the swiftboating of John Kerry
succeeded. They portrayed him as a coward when he was actually a
decorated combat hero. The lie worked because it was so egregious and
counter-intuitive that some people decided it had to be true.

Like all "big lies," this particular one is also being disseminated in pseudo-intellectual form.

Daniel Pipes, who makes a living off Muslim baiting, has written an
article (widely disseminated by Obama's opponents) that concedes that
Obama is a Christian but is also an apostate Muslim.

As someone who rejected the faith of his father (a father he never
knew!) he will, according to Pipes, be anathema to the entire Muslim
world. His election, he says, would do terrible damage to the United
States simply because we would be led by the worst kind of Christian of
all (one who rejected Islam).

So the haters and the campaign smear artists have it coming and
going. Either Obama is a Muslim who will sell us out to Al Qaeda or he
is a Christian, an apostate Muslim, who will earn us the special hatred
some Muslims reserve for Crusaders!

The bottom line is that the career haters like Pipes and people who
oppose Obama's candidacy for all kinds of reasons have decided that
religion baiting is the best way to bring down the first
African-American ever to be in serious contention for the Presidency.

Sadly, they have chosen the Jewish community as the prime recipient
of their message of hate -- overlooking that the Jewish community is
the most liberal community in the nation and the one that has
traditionally been most enlightened on issues of racial equality.

They think that because we love Israel, we hate all Muslims and even people who are Christians but can be called Muslim.

This is sickening on so many levels. You know, the one really
positive thing about how President George W. Bush handled the post 9/11
situation in this country is that he never ever engaged in
Muslim-baiting. Say what you will about the Iraq war and its various
reverberations, neither the President nor his top political people ever
used race hate to stir up partisan hysteria. (Bush was the first
President to go to a Mosque and even to hold regular Muslim
celebrations at the White House).

How ironic is it, and how tragic, if Democrats allow race hatred to
infect the Democratic campaign for President and how insulting is it to
Jews that the community which they would use as their guinea pigs is
our community.

Is there no shame? Don't bother to answer.

http://www.tpmcafe.com/blog/coffeehouse/2008/jan/10/the_hate_campaign_ag...

They are obviously part of a coordinated campaign, and just look at the morons you attracted to jewcy by posting about them. Who is sending them, and how are they getting hold of the email addresses to which they are sending them?
