Samuel-Christophe
Tedjasukmana's photography is the tenacity of his memory. The
mischieviousness of his wanderlust, his wanton drive for hedonism, and
countless sessions of obsessive attention on certain object/ subjects
(banality, facial hair, youtube videos, status updates, haute couture,
diptychs) are what provide him with a wide farrago of photographs.
Christophe has enjoyed photography from a young age but has come to
appreciate more the execution, the spectacle, the ownership of his
memories and experiences as he has matured and refined his interests.
His body of work entitled Brethren, focuses his attention to fellow
gay Asian men in New York City that he encounters via friends, online
postings, or libatious evenings at speakeasies. Having been raised in
the agricultural farmlands of Michigan, his interest in the spectacle
was fueled when he moved to another continent after high-school. Upon
matriculation, he attended the International Center of Photography and
has resided in New York since. He enjoys palindromes, eye candy,
country capitals, traveling, running across the bridges, 30 Rock and
Wong Kar Wai films. You can find him blogging occassionally: http://www.menblowsmoke.blogspot.com and on his website. http://www.tedjasukmana.net
